The sun will rise in the east to usher in a new day, a new era for America and the world.

We will not be told the sun rose in the west. We will know it sets in the west.

We will not be told war is peace. We will know with war there is no peace.

We will not be told no child has been left behind. We will know many children have been left behind.

We will not be told less taxes for the wealthy will raise all boats on the tide. We will know the boats of the middle class and poor are sinking.

We will not be told an act in name only gives us clean air. We will know only by restricting polluters will we breathe easier.

We will not be told to trust the money changers. We will know they have shamelessly abandoned us again in a great sea of greed.

We will not be told the last eight years have been a success. We will know our country's needs are great.

We will not be told enhanced interrogation is something other than torture. We will know the ideals of our founders are what makes us a nation of ideals.

We will not be told up is down, dark is light or wrong is right. We will know right and light are on our side.

We will know Barack Hussein Obama has been sworn in as the 44th President of the United States.

We will rejoice.

We will thank God.

Bathman's Webpage (last update, 1/20/09)

Howdy!  While cruising the Infobahn, you have reached my website of Bob Bath in Grants Pass, Oregon.  It's a beautiful slice of heaven just an hour over the border with California.  It has always been my dream to live within a couple of hours from my favorite camping spots: Jedediah Smith Redwoods, Crater Lake National Park, and Honeyman Sand Dunes State Park. I love it here. One has a feeling of connectedness with the community; people seem friendy in a small town, and there have been many specific volunteer efforts.
Recreation here consists of various watersports, winter skiing, hiking, and many people enjoy jetboating on the Rogue River, although I particularly enjoy going down it either with or without a Tahiti kayak; quite the hoot for a UCI oarsman-alumni!  I've been bicycling, playing tennis, and playing adult league volleyball and soccer.

Attribute it to my being first born, attribute it to exposure to graphic images of the war in Vietnam during my kindergarten years; attribute it to 25+ years of involvement with the Methodist church; attribute it to compassion lived by example in many relatives, but I've spent many hours thinking about how I want to leave the planet a better place than when I came into it.  As a result, I've compiled some thoughts on a variety of issues.  Unfortunately, there's bound to be something below to offend just about anyone.  So please don't venture past the first line without some semblance of an open mind.  Also please remember that this is my page, not that of my wife.  Writing this webpage is enormously cathartic for me; that is, it helps me make sense of an often senseless place.
