The first Asian meeting was a goodwill Tang Soo Do demonstration with Chinese martial artists in Korea in October of 1955. It resulted in an international exchange of friendship. The first regulation Asian Tang Soo Do Tournament was opened by the Japanese in 1964. The Korean team that was led by Mr. Hwang Kee won this first tournament at that time. The Korean team also won the second regulation Asian Tang Soo Do Tournament in Korea during 1965. Each nation joined the Asian Tang Soo Do (Karate) Federation for the annual event, The countries belonging to the Asian Tang Soo Do Federation are Korea, Japan, China, Philippines and Malaysia. It is likely that in the near future more countries will join the Asian Tang Soo Do (Karate) Federation.

Moo Duk Kwan was responsible for many of the Asian tournament victories. Because of this, branch gyms were established throughout the country in order to promote goodwill and national prestige through Tang Soo Do. Much of the national acclaim in Tang Soo Do (Karate) that came out of the first international tournament established Moo Duk Kwan.
