Takahiko Ishikawa, 48, was born in Japan and is a graduate in Japanese literature of Nippon University. In 1949 and 1950 he became the first man ever to win the All Japan Judo Championship twice in a row. Later he taught judo at Kokushikan College. In 1961, with Donn Draeger, he coauthored the book "Judo Training Methods." In 1963 he was awarded 8thDan Black Belt. Heinz Bodmer was born in Switzerland and came to the U.S. in 1962. The 29yearold bachelor is the head instructor of the Valley Karate in Reseda, California. He works as a machinist. He is affiliated with the All America Karate Federation and received his promotions to 2ndDan Black Belt in judo and 1stDan Black Belt in karate in 1960. |

Yoshisada Yonezuka is the head instructor of the Westfield Judo Center in New Jersey. The 27yearold 5thDan Black Belter was born in Aomori, Japan, and graduated from Nihon University, majoring in economics. He started to play judo at 17; became the judo champion of all Northern Japan high schools at 18; was a 4th Dan Black Belter at 21; was cocaptain of the 1959 Tokyo College Judo Championship team; came to U.S. in 1960 and taught judo at West Point. | ![]() |
Douglas Nowokunski is a student of Fine Arts at Roosevelt University in Chicago, Ill. The 24yearold bachelor studied "T'iao H Ch'uan Tao" for six years and holds the "white sash with the Blue Dragon (Lan Lung)." He also studied yawara and jujutsu in New York from Mitsuru Tamura and Shaolin Ch'uan. He's also an experienced boxer and wrestler. |

Kyung Ho Min, 28, is a graduate student
at the University of Georgia, majoring in physical education. He was born
in Korea and attended the Korean Yudo College in Seoul. He's ranked 4thDan
Black Belt in judo and 2nd-Dan Back Belt in Karate. He was also
the runner-up in the 180lb. division of the 12th National AAU Judo
Championships, held in New York recently. He is affiliated with the Korean
Yudo College and the Moo Duk Kwan Korean Tang Soodo Association. |

John Athanas Pachivas was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and matriculated at St. Louis University and Central Missouri State College. The head instructor of the Dade County Police Academy in Miami, Florida, works as swimming instructor of the Thunderbird Motel in Miami Beach and as the judo and karate instructor for the police academy.
