Arnica chamissonis
Family: Asteraceae
Herbaceous perennial. Native to western North America.
In Europe there are 271 preparations on record which contain extracts from
the Arnica plant. Therefore it is not surprising that the plant is
increasingly rare and protected in its wild state. Cultivation is
much encouraged. Because A. chamissonis yields well from multiple
flower stalks, spreads more virulently than A. montana and is chemically
closely allied, it has been approved as an “official” Arnica by the German
DAB 10. We offer our new harvest A. chamissonis seed to gardeners
as a species of great promise. Cultivation: Relatively
easy. Sow in spring, and transplant to moist, rich ground.
In the right setting, they will spread and produce many flowers.
