Annual.  This is a strictly medicinal, bitter Basil, originating from the continent of Africa where there are over 100 varieties of Basil in common use.  This species is employed in East Africa as a tea against persistent headache, migraine, fever, worms and rheumatism.  Also used as an incense to welcome the newborn, and to drive away evil spirits and demons.  Very rare this side of the equator. Average germ time 25 days. Cultivation:  Easy. Sow in greenhouse or in pots on the windowsill and transplant out to the garden when the weather has settled into summer.
