Bugleweed

Lycopus americanus

Family:  Lamiaceae
Herbaceous perennial.  Native to eastern, southern and central North America.  Grows in and around shallow water. In combination with Lemon Balm and Motherwort, Bugleweed is used to treat hyper-thyroidism and Grave’s disease.  Cultivation:  Easy.  Sow seed in early spring in greenhouse.  Transplant seedlings out to garden or to the edge of a pond or stream in late spring.  Space 1 foot apart.  Grows 2 feet tall.
