Thelesperma gracile
Family: Asteraceae
Annual. Native to the southwestern United States and Mexico.
The stems and sparse leaves make a tea which is a good substitute for black
tea and coffee. The tea is kind to the stomach, and was used traditionally
as a vermifuge. Recommended. Our organic planting of these produced
rangy bushed topped by bright yellow flowers with peculiarly fat inflorescenses.
Cultivation: Easy. Sow seed directly in garden in the early spring.
Average germ time 7 days. Thin to 6 inches apart. Grows 2 to 3 feet
tall.
