Echinacea atrorubens
Family: Asteraceae
Herbaceous perennial. Rare endemic species native to Eastern Oklahoma
and Eastern Kansas. Unusual, medicinal and in need of cultivation
and protection. Stems light green, usually smooth. Flowers
variable, lavender to dark purple, with ray flowers strongly reflexed downward
toward the stem. Rounded profile. Cultivation: Stratify
30 days. Thin or transplant to 1 to 2 feet apart. Flowers to
2 to 4 feet tall.
