Foxglove, Wild Oregon

Digitalis purpurea

Family: Scrophulariaceae         TOXIC
Biennial.  This is the classic purple Foxglove, wild-harvested from the Oregon Coastal rainforest, where the deep green ferns and dripping, mossy trees make an ideal environment for these flowers which blossom profusely through the summer. Cultivation:  Extra care.  Sow seed in the early spring on the surface of a flat in the greenhouse.  Light dependent germinator.  May take up to four weeks to germinate.  In the first year, it will make a dense rosette of leaves, which send up vertical stalks and blooms the following spring and summer.  The plants grow up to 5 feet tall. This is the Foxglove we will send you if you don’t specify type.
