Larkspur

Consolida orientalis

Family: Ranunculaceae           TOXIC
Annual.  Native to temperate zones in Europe, Asia and America.  Flowers pink, purple or blue.  They make excellent cut flowers, but children should be warned not to eat them. Traditionally, a bed of Larkspur was grown in every herb garden, the seed used for treating head and body lice. Cultivation: Extra care.  Strew the seed on a garden bed in fall or early spring and tamp in.  Prefers full sun, normal garden soil and regular watering.  Flowers to 4 feet.
