Herbaceous perennial. Lovage provides not only an agreeable seasoning
but the root is an easy-to-grow substitute for Dong-quai. The plant
is aromatic, stimulating and pro-estrogenic, thereby regulating the menses
when used appropriately. Cultivation: Easy. Sow
seed in fall or spring, either directly in rich garden beds or in a flat.
Transplant or thin to 18 inches apart. Flowers to 12 feet in
second year.
