see also...............Black Seed    (Nigella sativa)
Annual. Native to Europe and North Africa.  The plant bears a cobalt blue flower in the midst of sprays of deeply cut foliage.  White flowers are possible, but rare.  The crowned seedpod is used in dried arrangements, and the sweetly aromatic seed may be sprinkled on cookies or used in white rice.  Same medicinal applications as Black Seed, but not as potent.  Cultivation: Easy.  Direct seed in fall or spring, or grow in pots.  Scatter seed about an inch apart and do not thin.  Flowers to 18 inches tall.
