Spirea ulmaria syn Fillipendula ulmaria

Herbaceous perennial. Native to temperate Europe and Asia. Waist-high
bushes bear sweet-smelling golden inflorescences (6% flavonoids) in the
second year. Leaves and flowers contain substantial quantities of
salicylic acid. Drink hot tea as an anti-inflammatory and pain relieving
diaphoretic several times daily for treatment of influenza or rheumatism.
This is the herb that aspirin was named after: (a-spirea = of spirea).
Cultivation: Extra care. Light-dependent germinator. Water
gently. Germ. in 2 to 3 weeks. Prefers full sun to shade, moist soils.
Plant 1 foot apart. Grows to 3 feet.
