Mint, Korean  (Huo Xiang)

Agastache rugosa

Family: Lamiaceae
Herbaceous perennial, annual in very cold places.  Native to Korea.  The upright purple racemes, nearly as big as Cattails, are much nicer flowers than regular mint can make.  Produces a nice set of flowers in the first year.  The dried leaf and flower has a strong licorice-mint flavor, making a fine sun-tea for a summer day, to banish heat stroke and summer colds.  Cultivation:  Easy.  Sow the seed in the greenhouse, or direct seed in the spring.  Transplant or thin to 6 inch spacing.  Flowers to 4 feet tall.
