Family:  Lamiaceae
Perennial in tropics, grown as an annual in temperate regions.  Spreading ground-cover native to tropical America.  The leaves make a very sweet tea, or may be ground and used as a sweetener. Demulcent and expectorant.  Good for container plantings.  Cultivation:  Easy.  Spring or summer, press seed firmly into surface of soil in garden or in a pot.  Grows rapidly and may be cut back multiple times.  Plant 1 foot apart.  Grows 1 to 3 feet tall.
