Biennial to perennial. Native to Europe.   General cultivation: Extra care.  Light-dependent germinator.  Strew on surface and compact down hard.  Seedlings transplant well and require little care past occasional watering when they are young.  Mulleins are allelopathic (they discourage other plants from growing near them).  Sow in spring or late summer.  Slow germinator, requiring 50 to 80 days.  Plant prefers full sun, rich soil.  Cold hardy.  Space plants 3 feet apart.  Flowers yellow to 5 feet tall.
