Family: Rutaceae                 Avoid skin contact.
Woody perennial. Native to the Mediterranean, North Africa and the Middle East.  A true zerophyte (drought tolerant plant).  Among the Bedoin tribes, used as a remedy for inflamed joints, backaches, chronic headaches, stomachaches and head lice. Plant prefers dry and well-drained soil.  Protect from extreme wet and cold.  Cultivation:  Easy.  Sow in flats in spring. Germ. in 15-19 days.  Transplant to regular garden soil.  Once established, tolerates drought and fierce sun.  Rue likes good drainage, fertility, a limey soil and a warm, sunny exposure.  Plant 2 feet apart.  Flowers to 3 feet.
