
Spilanthes, Brede Mafane
Spilanthes acmella
Family: Asteraceae
Native to the East African coast of the Indian Ocean. Principal
ingredient of the national dish of Madagascar, Le Romazava. Also used by
native peoples for treating a host of medical conditions including malaria
and thrush. Makes multitudes of bright yellow flowers. For more information,

Easy. Tropical perennial grown as an annual in the temperate north.
Sow in spring in pots in a sunny window, directly in the garden, or in
the greenhouse. Av. germ. time 10 days. Plant prefers plenty of sun,
good, rich soil and plenty of water. Plant 2 feet apart. Grows
12 inches tall.
