HIGHLY TOXIC
Biennial. Native to Southern Europe and Asia minor. Striking,
glossy, palmate, variegated leaves in first year, outrageous fountain of
purple flowers in second year. Homeopathically dilute doses have been used
by qualified practitioners only in the treatment of benign prostatic hypertrophy
(BPH) as well as cancer of the prostate. Cultivation: Extra care.
Sow seed in fall, midwinter or very early spring for germination in warm
soils. Regular garden soil, sun or partial shade. Space plants
1 to 2 feet apart. Flowers blue and purple, to 4 feet.
