Annual.  Native to the Mediterranean, central Europe, Dalmatia and Siberia. Harvest the preflowering tops several times in the summer, shade-dry and rub out the stems.  This makes the ideal substance for winter cookery, a rich aroma blending admirably with almost any dish, wholesome and carminative.  Cultivation: Easy.  Direct seed in good soil in the spring. Germ. in 5-9 days.  Thin to 6 inches.  Grows to 2 feet.
