Tarragon, Mexican

Tagates lucida

Family: Asteraceae          <<IT’S BACK!>>
Herbaceous perennial in warm places, annual in temperate zones. Native to Mexico and Central America. The hot tea of the dried leaves is a diaphoretic and is used for sweating out a cold.  Also used as a condiment in foods.  Cultivation:  Sow seed directly in the garden or in flats or pots in the spring or summer.  Requires a long growing season to flower and produce seed, but a good harvest of aromatic herb may be obtained regardless of the length of your summer.  Plant 1 foot apart.  Grows 2 to 3 feet tall.
