Herbaceous perennial. Native to the Balkans and East Africa.
The root is a folk remedy for dropsy, being a very efficient diuretic.
Cultivation: Easy. Sow in spring or summer. Germinates
in 10 to 40 days. Sow directly in the garden, in pots or in the greenhouse.
Plant prefers full sun and dry, calcareous soil. Cold hardy.
Plant 1 foot apart. Flowers blue to 2 feet tall.
