Thyme, Creeping

Thymus serpyllum

Family: Lamiaceae
Woody perennial spreading ground cover. Native to Temperate Europe, Asia, Africa and North America.  This is the lowest-lying thyme we have ever experienced.  Good between stepping stones or as a lawn.   It makes a very pungent spice.  Cultivation: Easy.  Sow in spring or early summer, in flats or directly in the garden.  Press small seed into soil surface and keep moist until germination.  Transplant or thin seedlings to 1 foot spacing.  Flowers pink-purple, to 3 inches.
