Long-lived woody perennial. Native to the Mediterranean and especially
Greece. Another example of perfect herbal spice, rich smelling and wholesome.
The herb is antiseptic and expectorant, an absolutely effective ingredient
in cough formulas or for treating throat infections. Cultivation:
Easy. Sow seeds in garden or in flats in early spring. Average
germ. time in warm soil is 5 days. Transplant 2 or 3 feet apart.
Thyme loves full sun, warm limey soil, side-dressing with organic compost
and moderate watering. Flowers to 18 inches. If you do
