Family:  Bigniniaceae
Perennial woody shrub.  Native to the American Southwest and Mexico.  Shiny green leaves and trumpet-shaped yellow flowers distinguish this outrageous desert plant.  The leaves and flowers are used as a tea or tincture to treat adult-onset diabetes.  Cultivation: Easy.  Sow seed in a gallon pot in the spring.  Prefers full sun and poor, sandy and/or gravelly soils.  Transplant to 4 feet apart.  Grows 3 to 6 feet tall.
