Trumpet Vine, Red (Trumpet Creeper)
Campsis radicans
Family: Bignoniaceae
Deciduous vine to 40’. Native to the American Southwest and the
eastern U.S.. Very cold-hardy. Will spread joyfully by means
of multiple suckers. The shiny, compound leaves make quick summer
shade, graced by impossibly healthy sprays of red/orange, trumpet-shaped
flowers in late summer and fall. The dried herb is antifungal, used
as a douche for treating candida or as an external wash for treating fungal
skin infections. Cultivation: Easy. Sow in spring. Full sun,
average water.
