Family: Ericaceae
Spreading perennial evergreen ground cover.  Native to the Northern Hemisphere, all the way up to the Arctic.  The herb covers entire hillsides, and has been adopted by landscapers for use in the city as a drought-tolerant and glossy-leaved ground cover.  Smokeable.  Tea or tincture treats mild urinary infections.  Cultivation: Extra care.  Fire dependent germinator or multi-cycle germinator if not fire-treated.  Grow in pots for a year before transplanting.  Prefers acid soils, full sun. Space plants 1 foot apart.  Mulch with wood or bark chips.
