Herbaceous Perennial. Native to Europe and north Asia.
In cultivation, the roots grow long and tender. They may be dug,
split, dried and made into a decoction or liquid extract. The roots
provide a gentle laxative and a good source of iron. Cultivation:
Extra care. Strew seed on disturbed soil. Partial germ. within
a few weeks, and ongoing germ for up to 3 years. Plant prefers partial
shade to full sun, moist ground. Flowers rusty-red to 3 feet.
